And now for a tune that is so relaxing, by the end of the three minutes you’ll be like a Bega Stringer on Xanax left out in the sun. ‘Give it to Me’ is the latest track by Homeshake, the project of Montreal-based musician Peter Sagar. He named the project after the handshake he has with his friends at home, one of whom is Mac DeMarco. Sagar played guitar in DeMarco’s band for many years before bowing out to develop his solo project Homeshake, a chilled-out, almost meditative brand of distorted indie rock, and in 2014 he released his debut album In the Shower. He’s currently working towards a second album, and you can expect ‘Give it to Me’ to be on it. The song was given the video treatment by another of the DeMarco clan, videographer Jim Larsen, and captures the understated sweetness of Sagar and his girlfriend, artist Salina Ladha (who does all his album artwork) spending a day at Coney Island. ‘Give it to Me’ is one for the people watchers, for the lovers of carnival rides, and for those who want to get high without the consequences.
